Does anyone know of any good Metal Gear Fangames? The only good one I've seen in 'Merry Gear Solid.' You can google it and it's freaking sweet... but sadly one of a kind as far as I've seen.

Sorry, I don't know of any, but I've just played Merry Gear Solid! It's amazing. I love this soooo much. More parodies would be good, if they're this standard or better.

I shall have to have a look at that myself soon. Perhaps we could also think of some ideas for a fan game of our very own? I got pretty good with Game Maker at one point, and I doubt it'd be that difficult to pick it up again, so maybe we'll be able to come up with something ourselves...

I'd be glad to do some artwork for the game. Write some of the plot perhaps as well. I don't have much skill in the way of programing though.

Oh, you don't need much of a clue about programming to use Game Maker...just a bit of logic. It's pretty simple stuff. Still, I'm willing to take care of the actual game design. Get your ideas posted, people!

Well... as a basic crossover post, I think we'd need to decide which characters will be in our game. Especialy the hero. And I cast the first vote against Ji Endo.

Wouldn't Ji Endo make a good hero though? You have to keep him alive long enough to complete the mission, and that's without being shot to pieces.

It took me a long time to complete the last level!! All those cameras everywhere. Love the way it says it's a digital camera and the explanation for why you can't take more than six shots is because of "film". What?!

Hahaha! Well, my problem with that game was that I got to the top of the house and then I was told to go back down. However, I decided to select the gift box just before leaving the area. At this point, I came across a glitch that prevented me from completing the game: I took control of one of the gifts I had left around the tree and couldn't get downstairs because Santa Claus was blocking the doorway. When I tried to deselect the box in order to regain control of Santa, Snake popped out of the box and I was controlling him, complete with a pistol, which couldn't be fired. So I never got to complete the game because of that.

Yes, I believe that's not a glitch though. That's just what happens when two missions of conflicting interest occur together.

Did Solid Santa being in the Gift Box prevent the ending animation, or are you just being a cheeky Brit?

No, Santa got stuck in the doorway and Solid Snake in the gift box couldn't get through the door to make his way back downstairs. And who are you calling a cheeky Brit?

I did find this one a while back, and have been playing it on my Nokia 6280. It should work on any J2ME-compliant phone, though. AI is sketchy at times (and woe betide any who take the "wrong" path through the level and fall victim to awful level design ) but it's the closest thing to a playable fangame I've ever yet seen. That's a nice idea. I'll download it when I'm done writing this reply. I just hope it works with Windows 7!

Okay, just downloading the RPG Maker 2003 RTP, although I am worried that Windows 7 reported the demo as not being installed correctly. That usually means it's not going to work. :S EDIT: I had the same problem with RPG Maker 2003 and when I tried to load the game demo, it produced an error message (in Spanish) and quit the program. Here's hoping compatibility for Windows 7 is added to RPG Maker 2003, however unlikely! 2nd EDIT: Nor does it run with RPG Maker VX installed, which DOES run under Windows 7. The videos look cool though!
