Which Metal Gear game did you play first?
MGS1 (PSX)
Why not give us a brief background as to how you came to love the Metal Gear series!
Well, a friend of mine gave me a (suspect) copy of MGS1 back in... 2007, and after my first playthrough (13 hours... on Very Easy X3) was instantly hooked. In particular, I loved the electronica-themed OST and the deep, engrossing narrative - the two things I look for in any game. Basically I was hooked, but disappointed that there was nothing else to the series. Or so I thought. A guy at school who owed me money gave me MGS2:S when he dropped out, and I finished it in about ninety minutes. I loved the updated mechanics and the direction the plot went. I have to admit it was this game that made me particularly attached to Otacon and Emma, when tragedy struck them both. (Well, one more so than the other. X3) I missed MGS3/4, having never owned a PS2/3 (though I've seen enough of the MGS4 cutscenes at various friends' houses, and was given a guidebook for it, so I know how it rolls). A lot of my interest in the series was garnered not by playing but by speculating about the plot and the universe. It was this speculation that led me to realize how much I identify with Otacon, and it was this that led me to my latest and most successful cosplay to date. I'm a musician of several disciplines, primarily keyboards, with an obsession with synthesizers. I love to tinker with hardware and am currently building a functioning replica Metal Gear Mk. II for next Manifest to go with my Otacon cosplay. I am with a small group of like-minded MGS cosplayers who are trying to infiltrate cons and things from time-to-time. Basically, my love for MGS has progressed to verging on the ascended fanboy stage, and I don't regret it for a minute. Snake, it's showtime. X3 |
