Which Metal Gear game did you play first?
Metal Gear Solid
Why not give us a brief background as to how you came to love the Metal Gear series!
I remember the first time I saw Metal Gear Solid for PS1 when an old friend's brother was moving Snake on the top of the communication tower before the descent with rope... At a first glance, I felt it was a game that had no games that were comparable to it because of its originality: for example, the previous part in wich Snake ran up, through around 25 floors, to the top of the communication tower was something so cinematic that made me to feel the strenght and the courage that wrapped around Solid Snake like other main characters never did. What about the torture scene? It was something that I never expected to see in a videogame. And left me pleasantly astonished. I liked Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty because the great innovation in terms of graphics (I finally got a clear vision of the Snake's face), of dynamism (faster gameplay) and in terms of realism; once more, I liked the originality (for example the codec comunications inside the Arsenal Gear) and the meant that Mr. Kojima wanted to impress to the game (what do we transmit to our future generations?). Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (or better Subsistence) convinced me to recently buy a PS2 because I really wanted to discover the origins of the Metal Gear series and to play MGS 3 on my own console and on my own way (because at first I was able to play it occasionally). At the moment, MGS3 is my favourite game of the MGS saga and I regret to have missed the online experience. However I don't think to buy a PS3 just for Metal Gear Solid 4 because of its expensive price and because of the innovation of MGS4 that seems to turn the game into a "mere" 3rd person shooter. And last but no least, the music: music played a very important role in generating a fascinating atmosphere that wraps the player as long as the game goes on. |
