METAL GEAR SOLID.NET

Snake travels far and wide to stop terrorists from destroying the world with Metal Gear. He's been to most of the continents now, and below is a map of all the locations in the Metal Gear games right from the original to the latest MGS4: Guns of the Patriots. • Metal Gear, the first game of the series was set in a place called Outer Heaven, a fictional nation 200km north of a place called Galzburg, also fictional. Galzburg was supposedly in South Africa.
• Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake was located in Zanzibar Land (also, Zanzibarland), another fictional location. This is not to be confused with Zanzibar, a real island off Tanzania in Africa. Zanzibar Land was supposedly located between the former Soviet Union, Afghanistan, Pakistan and China.
• Metal Gear Solid was set on a fictional island called Shadow Moses Island, supposedly one of the Fox Islands (which are real) off the coast of Alaska, in the Bering Sea.
• Metal Gear: Ghost Babel was located in central Africa in a fictional area called Galuade within the fictional nation of Gindra.
• Metal Gear Solid 2 was divided into two stages, the first being set on a tanker ship in the Hudson River, New York City. The second was in an off-shore facility called the Big Shell, also in New York. The final part of the game is set in Manhattan itself.
• Metal Gear Solid 3 is set in an obscure jungle in central USSR. The location of Tselinoyarsk is fictional.
• Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops is located in South America, in a fictional peninsula off Columbia called the San Hieronymo Peninsula.
• Metal Gear Solid 4 is the most diverse in its locations, being set in five different places. The first three are in non-specific places within the Middle East, South America and Eastern Europe. After that it is set on Shadow Moses Island - the same location as in MGS1 - and finally on a vessel entitled Outer Haven.
